What Procedures are Involved in Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery is also known as blepharoplasty, a cosmetic surgery procedure that reshapes the appearance of the eyelid area. While individual cosmetic surgeons may perform these techniques a little differently from each other, the basic procedure that is involved in blepharoplasty is quite straightforward. Basically, excessive tissue is removed from the eyelid area, where excess fat and skin is repositioned or removed entirely. The surrounding muscles and tendons that support the area may also have to be reinforced, and laser and chemical treatment may also take place to aid the recovery process and finalise the procedure.
eyelid surgery (Augen OP Berlin) normally involves external incisions along the natural skin lines that surround the eyes, such as the creases in the upper eyelids or the creases below the lower lid lashes. While incisions can also be made on the inside surface of the lower eyelid in the case of transconjunctival blepharoplasty, the majority of cosmetic cases involved external incisions only. When an incision has been made, thee surgeon then removes excess tissue from the area, and reshapes some of the tissue in the area as well. The amount of tissue removed and the details of reshaping will depend on each individual patient, with some people having different needs and expectations from the surgery than others.
While there can be complications, a typical eyelid surgery procedure is quite straightforward and only takes between two to three hours to complete. While there will be an initial period of bruising and swelling to the eye area, this normally resolves in one to two weeks. However, typical eyelid surgery is not considered to be stable until a period of at least a few months, and this is when the results of the procedure are best appreciated. Some of the factors that are known to cause complications with eyelid surgery include dry eyes, laxity or lid looseness, and excessive eye prominence in relation to the cheeks and face area. While eyelid surgery is quite common and mostly goes according to plan, it is always best to consider any cosmetic procedures at length and do as much research as possible into cosmetic surgeons before making an appointment.
